Bridgestone Arena in downtown Nashville provided the perfect place to gather and share gratitude, respect, and community during Military Appreciation Week. Hosted by the Nashville Predators, we took part in a variety of events that honored those who have served, from the Salute to Service Skate Event, where military families had the chance to skate with Preds players, to Plaza Parties outside the arena, featuring everything from community vendors to a full-size tank. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of coming together to recognize and support our military community.
The week was filled with powerful experiences – stories of service, shared connections, and a deep sense of unity. Seeing the interaction between the players and military families was incredibly impactful. There was a palpable sense of camaraderie as we came together to celebrate and honor those who have served.
One of the most meaningful parts of the week was an initiative led by Memories of Honor, where we were given the opportunity to choose a fallen soldier and write a letter to their family. This was a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by so many. Throughout the events, we heard from groups making a positive impact on veterans’ lives, deepening the sense of purpose and reflection.
A Commitment to Opportunity
We believe in fresh starts and the unmatched value of experience gained through service and perseverance. Through Lee Company Cares, we invest in programs that provide meaningful career opportunities for individuals looking to take the next step in their journey – whether they are transitioning service members or formerly incarcerated individuals seeking a second chance.
One of the ways we support career transitions is through the Department of Defense (DOD) SkillBridge program, which helps service members bridge the gap between military service and civilian careers.
Through SkillBridge, active-duty military members train in skilled trades during their final six months of service, preparing them for long-term careers in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, sheet metal, and more. Veterans bring more than just technical skills – they bring discipline, leadership, and a strong work ethic that make them invaluable members of our team.
At the same time, Lee Company Cares extends this belief in opportunity to individuals who are working to reintegrate into society after incarceration. Through partnerships with Tennessee Prison Outreach Ministry and Hope Center Ministries, we help people who are rebuilding their lives to find a path forward.
No matter their background, we believe that people deserve the opportunity to apply their skills, grow in their careers, and continue making an impact in their communities. Whether they’ve served in the military or overcome past challenges, everyone deserves a chance to move forward with confidence.
Stronger Together
No mission is accomplished alone, and the same is true for building stronger communities. Partnering with organizations like the Nashville Predators allows us to extend our reach and create real opportunities for veterans and their families. As the need for transition programs continues to grow, we remain committed to helping veterans navigate their next chapter with confidence and purpose.
“As an organization, the Nashville Predators are deeply committed to honoring the brave men and women who serve our country, and Ford Military Week is a special opportunity for us to show our gratitude. We’re incredibly proud to partner with Lee Company, whose support helps make this initiative even more impactful. In addition to their commitment to honoring service members, they also make a difference by connecting veterans to great job opportunities within their organization, helping them build successful careers after their service. We are proud to stand alongside Lee Company in this important initiative and grateful for their dedication to our military community.”
– Jack Burk, Vice President of Partnerships, Nashville Predators
Experiencing a week like this gave us a renewed perspective on the work we do and the real impact it has on the lives of others. It was an unforgettable experience that left us feeling humbled and grateful to play a part in honoring those who have served.
Our dedication to veterans is just one part of our larger commitment to building stronger communities. Whether it’s supporting military families, mentoring students, or partnering with local nonprofits, we believe in using our resources to make a difference where it matters most.
