Imagine having to choose between paying your bills or putting food on the table for your family. It’s a heartbreaking decision that far too many of our neighbors face every single day. While some worry about what’s for dinner, others are left worrying whether there will even be dinner.
Hunger is a harsh reality right in our own backyard. Startling statistics reveal that 1 in 8 Middle Tennesseans, including 1 in 6 children, grapple with hunger on a daily basis. What’s even more surprising is that many of these individuals struggling to put food on the table are our neighbors—hardworking folks who often find themselves caught between the necessity of paying bills and buying food.
But, together, we can make a difference.
We’ve teamed up with local food banks, including the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee, Kentucky’s Heartland Food Bank, and the Food Bank of North Alabama, to combat hunger head-on. From now until November 20, there are several ways you can join us in our fight against hunger:
- Give During Service Calls: When a Lee Company technician visits your home, consider giving canned food and other non-perishable items to support our cause.
- Drop Off Donations: You can drop off your food donations at any Lee Company office near you.
- Virtual Food Drive: Contribute to our Virtual Food Drive, where an impressive 96 cents of every dollar goes directly towards feeding programs.
What Items Do the Food Banks Need Most?
Here are the most urgently needed items requested by the food banks to help those in need:
- Peanut butter
- Macaroni and cheese
- Canned fruit
- Canned vegetables
- Rice & beans
- Canned chicken
- Canned tuna
- Cereal
At Lee Company, our motivation to give back stems from the gratitude we feel for all we’ve been blessed with. We extend our heartfelt thanks to you for joining us in making a meaningful impact in the lives of our hungry neighbors. Together, we’ll not only fight hunger but also nourish hope!
