“Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.” This is the Special Olympics athlete’s oath. The global non-profit is the leading voice in raising awareness about the abilities of people with intellectual disabilities, and their voice keeps getting louder. For the past six years, Lee Company has supported Special Olympics of Williamson County with our annual golf tournament, raising both money and awareness for the organization.
“Special Olympics of Williamson County is honored to be part of Lee Company’s 75th year celebration,” says Area Director, Jon Stephenson. “On behalf of our athletes, Unified Sports partners, parents, board, coaches, and volunteers, we thank Lee Company and friends for another very successful golf outing. These funds will help us to continue to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition to promote training for life.”
Over the past six years, with the help of our sponsors, friends, and customers, more than $268,000 has been raised for this terrific organization.

Making memories
During this year’s tournament, we had 18 Special Olympics athletes join us for the event. They did everything from handing out goodie bags, to interacting with golfers on the course, and giving high fives to everyone along the way. It great to meet them and hear their stories.
Hole #17 at the Governors Club in Brentwood continued to be the most popular hole on the course. Eric Wilson, a returning athlete was on hand to putt first for each team in the tournament, and a great time was had by all. If you’ve never attended a Special Olympics event, we highly encourage you to check one out.
