EXCELLENCE IN CONSTRUCTION: WEWORK NASHVILLE
WeWork Nashville started as a very specific project for Lee Company – and we are grateful for how we achieved success! Congratulations to the Lee Company pros who worked on this office space building in downtown Nashville: WeWork Nashville has been honored with Excellence in Construction awards from the Greater Tennessee and North Alabama chapters of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC).
WeWork Nashville received the 2018 Eagle Award from the Greater Tennessee Associated Builders and Contractors chapter and the 2018 Merit Award from the North Alabama Associated Builders and Contractors Chapter.
WERE WE UP TO THE CHALLENGE?
When WeWork, a global provider of coworking space, wanted to renovate over 66,000 square feet of office space in downtown Nashville, Lee Company knew there would be challenges. Other tenants located in the building? One service elevator for all trades and deliveries? Hardwood floors installed, and walls roughed in before the ductwork arrived? Lee Company’s special projects team knew how to overcome these obstacles — and more — to meet WeWork’s timeline and budget. Working seven days a week, in double shifts each day, Lee Company went beyond the space, and expectations, to deliver insightful solutions with project management and field expertise.
LOGISTICAL CHALLENGES THROUGH THE ROOF? NOT A PROBLEM FOR THIS TEAM.
Originally contracted to complete only the demolition piece of the space at One Nashville Place, Lee Company started ductwork installation for the project a month behind as the design and sourcing team customized specs, and $600,000 in change orders, to meet WeWork’s budget and timing parameters. Initially ductwork for the three floors was to be completed for each floor consecutively, but a shift in schedule required the on-site team to work two floors at a time. At times with up to 30 people on-site working double shifts, seven days a week, the breadth and depth of Lee Company’s talent and resources met the demand required by the project.
Renovating an existing space in an office building with other tenants requires extreme diligence. Working through drywalls was a drag on productivity — adding an additional 30 percent to the installation time.
The final results? A sigh of relief and an exciting success! With Lee Company innovation and expertise, WeWork was ready to open its doors to delighted customers, on time and on budget.
